The Crinolette: 1868-1873 presented by Chantal Filson
November 28, 2023 7pm EST
Join us for a look at the glorious transitional structure known as the crinolette- a hybrid of hoop and bustle that bridged the gap between two landmark eras in women’s fashion and surpassed both in structural genius.
The lecture features an overview of era styles through fashion plates, art and museum pieces, and a look at the form and function of the crinolette itself through reproductions displayed on a dress form. Both modern and original sewing patterns will be reviewed, with examples of each completed version underneath garments to demonstrate the bulky magic of what the crinolette does.
Attendees will receive a pdf handout of links/info for further research.
