Do you sometimes try to remember details of a dress or item you made? What size you actually cut out, fabric, trim, inspiration? How about when you are shopping—can you remember what fabric/trim you have, yardage, etc.?
One simple and enjoyable solution is to make a notebook with details, swatches, pictures of each project and notes. Then another one with swatches with notes as to yardage on hand to take shopping with you so you can match trim, etc.
In this class I will share my notebooks and provide simple techniques and templates to create your own special notebooks. While I can document plain sewing workbooks with actual samples of stitches and miniature articles, I have not seen a period example similar to mine. I have read diaries that mention ‘my calico dress’, ‘my brown delaine’, etc. but nothing with actual samples. There are a few intriguing leads….more to come!
This is a fun and productive project for me; one that allows me to accurately remember my creative endeavors and maybe even help me to recreate a special item.
